Rise for Climate Jobs and Justice Mobile Bay
People Power Change! Activate! Educate! Mobilize! Build Solutions! Drawing on powerful symbology and using a color palette evocative of key areas of environmental concern for the Mobile Bay region, the Rise for Climate Jobs and Justice 2019 poster served as an organization tool as well as increasing event awareness in communities most heavily impacted by water and air quality. The digital image was used to recruit speakers, sponsors and partners.
The Mobile Bay is an area heavily impacted by climate change and the fossil fuel industry. One of the areas hardest hit by the Deep Water Horizon oil spill, the increase in flooding and hurricane damage, erosion caused by natural gas pipelines, and pollution due to coal storage and transport; Mobile Bay is an area where change needs to happen. The poster reinforces the community organizing already in place, draws attention to local pride in the natural beauty and city on the bay, while also serving as a warning of what could happen without systemic change.
